Tips for a memorable road trip this summer

We will remember the summer of 2020 for a very long time. It was an exceptional summer for all sorts of reasons where we all had to change our habits and change our plans. What emerges from this unique period, however, is how we are able to adapt and make the most of a summer which, like every year, passes too quickly.

Instead of taking the plane for our summer vacation or going to the United States on the beach, the majority of families will stay in the province and rediscover Quebec by car with one of the most enjoyable activities in summer, the road trip. So, we thought we would offer you some tips for a successful road trip this summer, whether you are alone, accompanied by your spouse, or the whole family is on board.

Give yourself time to enjoy it

Perhaps the best road trip advice this summer is to take the time to make the most of it by choosing an achievable destination without putting too strict a time limit on yourself. Schedules are made for the office; vacations are made to decompress and slow down. Pick a destination that interests you and an itinerary to get there but give yourself plenty of time to stop on route and explore other attractions.

If you can, avoid the highway and take the country roads. There are many small villages away from the expressways that are worth stopping for an hour or two.

Some preparations are needed

Despite the need to slow down and discover, we still have to plan some elements of our trip. It is better, for example, to have reservations in advance. Quebec hotels, chalets and bed and breakfasts will be in high demand this summer.

It is also necessary to know the roads that we will use. For example, driving at night on an unfamiliar country road is not always pleasant. At a minimum, have a good idea of the route you are going to travel and the important places along the route (restaurants, gas stations, hospitals and so on).

Items to bring with you

Some items are very important during a road trip. Here's a quick reminder:

- First aid kit

- Medicines for motion sickness

- Mosquito repellent

- Mobile phone wire (if your vehicle does not have wireless charging)

- Pillows and blankets

Some elements of your Mercedes-Benz that you will find useful

Your Mercedes-Benz is equipped with technologies and functions that make traveling in the car even more enjoyable. See if your vehicle offers the following:

- ENERGIZING Comfort to relax or invigorate while driving

- Wireless charging (as indicated above)

- MBUX to easily adjust the air conditioning or the audio system

- Integrated Wi-Fi to avoid using your data

- Seats with massage function

- Ventilated seats

- Rear seat infotainment system

- Heated or cooled cup holders

The Mercedes-Benz range offers vehicles that perfectly combine comfort and driving pleasure. Whether it's one of the many spacious convertibles offered in the Mercedes-Benz range or even a spacious SUV like the redesigned Mercedes-Benz GLE, the Mercedes-Benz GLC, the redesigned Mercedes-Benz GLA or the all-new affordable and stylish Mercedes-Benz GLB, the whole family will find something at Mercedes-Benz this summer.

Come and discover the new range of new Mercedes-Benz vehicles and make this summer a memorable one.
