Three reasons to buy a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE instead of a 2021 Lexus RX

The luxury mid-size SUV segment includes several models that offer luxury, refinement, comfort and performance. This segment is very competitive and to stand out, a model should not require compromise from its owners. The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE and the 2021 Lexus RX are two models that offer a lot to their buyer, but there are notable differences between the two.

Let's see three places where the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE stands out from the 2021 Lexus RX.

More spacious interior

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE is one of the larger SUVs in its class while the 2021 Lexus RX, although in the same segment, is one of the smallest. So, there are significant differences in interior space.

The trunk of the Mercedes-Benz GLE, for example, can accommodate up to 2,055 liters while the Lexus RX offers just over 1,500 liters. In addition, the GLE has a wheelbase of almost 3,000mm, which is 200mm longer than the Lexus RX. It might sound trivial, but it makes all the difference when it comes to interior space for passengers, especially rear passengers.

Better performance

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE comes standard with a turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. This engine is less powerful than the stock RX engine, but on the road the performance is the same but with its turbo, the GLE is even a little faster.

From there, everything is to the advantage of the GLE as it offers engines that delivers 362 horsepower, 429 horsepower and even 603 horsepower. In short, no engine in the RX range can come close to the performance of the GLE.

Superior level of luxury

The Lexus RX is one of the oldest midsize luxury SUVs in its segment while the GLE was redesigned 2 years ago. It is therefore more modern, and its interior is more luxurious overall. In particular, it offers multiple finishes in open-pore wood or carbon fiber with fine leathers and a high-level craftsmanship.
