The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS in Detail

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan takes EV luxury to a whole new level. It is expected to be Mercedes-Benz’s flagship as the brand enters the electrified future. But beyond its new state of the art efficient and zero-emission powertrain, the EQS will carry everything the S Class stands for in terms of refinement, luxury and technologies.

Fully electric powertrains offer refinement and exhilaration in the 2022 EQS

Under the hood, the Mercedes-Benz offers a choice of fully electric powertrains that will cater to every need. A 329-hp, rear-drive powertrain in the EQS450+ provides 406 lb-ft of torque for plenty of speed and acceleration, while the 516 hp all-wheel-drive EQS580 4Matic variant pushes out 611 lb-ft of torque, taking things even further for demanding drivers who want a more exhilarating experience.

Both powertrains are powered by a large 107.8-kWh battery that should provide more than 500 kilometres of range. This means that you won’t have to worry about charging on longer trips. Speaking of charging, the EQS will regain 300 kilometres of range in 15 minutes when plugged in a 200kW charging station. Also, with a 9.6kWh onboard charger, the battery can be fully charged in 10 hours using a level 2 (240V) power source.

Rear-drive variants will accelerate from zero to 97 km/h in 5.5 seconds. Opting for the more powerful all-wheel-drive model will reduce this time to 4.1 seconds. Every EQS rides on an adaptive air suspension and, but the standard rear-axle-steering system can angle the rear wheels up to 4.5 degrees making the sedan easier to maneuver in urban areas. An optional upgrade that can push this angle to 10 degrees.

A highly connected and luxurious cabin in the 2022 EQS

Inside, the EQS is a palace on wheels. Because it is intended to be a zero-emission vehicle, it also carries over this philosophy inside. It features DINAMICA microfiber in crystal white sourced from recycled bottles, and a roof liner developed from recycled ocean plastic. The entire surface of the interior is capable of displaying digital content, making it more connected than any other vehicle on the face of this earth.
