Mercedes-Benz A-Class vs. Audi A3: boldness that pays off

If Audi was the first German firm to offer us a subcompact in North American territory, it is now the one that suggests the oldest model on the market conceptually. Indeed, the A3 that is currently offered has been redesigned one last time for the year 2014.

That's seven years ago! As for the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, its renewal is more recent, which was in 2019.

There's no need to tell you which one is the most modern, it's a given.

The number of variants

Let's start with the available variants. Audi offers one body style, the sedan. The latter is available in three forms: A3, S3 and RS3.

At Mercedes-Benz, the A is available as a sedan, a coupe (CLA-Class) and a hatchback (5-door). In addition to these body styles, there are various mechanical configurations that allow the model to compete with the three versions offered by Audi. We're talking about the 220, 250, AMG 35 and AMG 45 versions, the latter of which can be found with the CLA. In terms of power, it's practically identical on both sides. There are simply more styling options at Mercedes-Benz.

A more inviting interior

If there's one thing that ages quickly these days, it's the cocoon of a vehicle, especially given the speed at which technology is brought on board. With the A3, you can't fight the test of time; the model shows its age and the presentation is old-fashioned. The opposite is true with Mercedes-Benz, where you discover an environment that exudes modernity. This is true in terms of technology, notably with one of the most advanced multimedia systems in the industry (MBUX), but also visually, where the marriage of materials, colors and this massive screen to the rest of the dashboard is in very good taste.

A hatchback model

Finally, for those who have things to carry, or simply prefer the practicality and aesthetics of a hatchback, know that you can find it by flipping through the A-Class catalog, but you won't find such a proposition by flipping through the A3's brochure.

The styling, the ride, the richness of the materials, all of these elements are to the advantage of the one that benefits from the latest design. For all of these reasons, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class remains THE choice in its class.
