2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB vs. 2021 BMW X1: When Luxury Meets Function

The GLB series features the luxury, versatility, performance, and technology growing families need. It offers seating for up to seven passengers, which is rare in this segment. Two powertrains offer up to 302 turbo horsepower and provide all the response and effortless motion for your busy lifestyle. Two well-equipped models are featured in the lineup, including the GLB 250 4MATIC and AMG GLB 35.

Here, we compare it to a close competitor, the 2021 BMW X1.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB excels in efficiency

The GLB 250 4MATIC features a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 221 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. For added performance and faster shifting, an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission pairs with the engine. This advanced engine and transmission help reduce fuel consumption that results in a surprising 10.3 / 7.8 L/100 km (city/highway). The GLB also features standard all-wheel drive that adapts the vehicle to Canada’s changing road types and weather.

The BMW X1 also includes a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It produces similar power and torque to the 250 4MATIC. However, the Mercedes-Benz AMG GLB 35 reigns at the top of this comparison. Its more powerful engine outputs 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB shows its versatility over the X1

Despite its classification as a compact SUV, the GLB optimizes every litre of volume throughout the cabin, providing you and your family with more adaptability than the BMW X1.

The GLB’s cargo volume extends to 1,755 litres behind the front seats, with rear seats folded. This provides nearly 100 more litres of volume than the X1 in the same configuration. Five-passenger GLB models include 560 litres of capacity behind the rear seats, which can be about twice the volume of two compact sedan trunks to load just about anything you need.

The GLB is also offered with an optional third row. This extends the versatility of the vehicle, especially if your lifestyle includes a full load of family and friends. The third row is also foldable, converting the area for storage when needed.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB has many other exciting features like the intuitive MBUX voice-activated system and many packages to choose from. You can shop for your car online with us. Our representatives are waiting for your call and can answer all your questions.
