2021 Mercedes-AMG A35: fun in a small package

The A-Class arrived in the country and made a name for itself right from the start. The arrival of the AMG A 35 variant solidified this first impression, as it was a real little bomb that was dropped on our market.

Let's see what makes it so unique.

First, let's take a look under the hood, because the wizards of the AMG division have outdone themselves. In fact, they managed to squeeze 302 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque out of the small 4-cylinder turbo engine that serves the model. With such a small car, it's absolutely mind-boggling.

Concretely, it turns it into a catapult, because it only takes 4.7 seconds to do the 0-100 km/h. Power is channeled and sent to all four wheels by a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox that does a flawless job.

This transmission can also be controlled manually, as there are paddle shifters on the steering wheel for shifting gears. They're well laid out and aesthetically pleasing, and invite us to use them to spice up our driving experience.

Inside, you'll enjoy a high-quality environment. The presentation is ultra-modern with a huge screen in front of the driver as a backdrop. The screen displays the instruments that we're used to seeing in front of us, but they're digital, of course. The screens are also customizable, so you can choose what you want to receive as information. The other part of the screen is used for multimedia system functions.

And speaking of the latter, the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) approach has received nothing but praise since its inception. User-friendly and technologically advanced, it allows a truly interesting interaction between human and machine. Being able to give voice commands to, for example, adjust the temperature or get weather information is almost unreal.

Finally, behind the wheel, it's a constant pleasure that awaits us. The AMG A 35 is agile, with precise steering and a suspension that's set firmly enough to tackle any twisty road.

Any doubts? A road test will convince you. Mercedes-Benz has delivered a pearl with this car.
