Returning Your Vehicle
A Simple, 5-step process.
1. 6 Months Before Your Expected Return Day
We help you kick off your lease return preparations by mailing an information package. Inside, you’ll find our Lease Return Guide, the First Class Condition Card and other valuable offers and information.
2. 3 Months Before the End of Your Lease
Mercedes-Benz will contact you to set up a no-charge 3rd party pre-inspection. Flexible and convenient, it can take place at your home, office or even your local dealership, at a time that works for you. This inspection will help you avoid any surprises when you’re ready to return your vehicle and give you plenty of time to make any required repairs, if needed. Remember – you won’t be able to make any repairs once you return the vehicle to the dealership.
3. When Your Lease Ends
If any issues come up from your pre-inspection, we’re here to help. Just contact your dealer to review your pre-inspection report. They’ll help you understand your options for repairs, replacement items and the costs for any excess wear or use. This is also a good time to schedule the return of your vehicle with your dealer.
4. More Information
Return your vehicle at your scheduled time to your dealer. You will receive a Vehicle Return Receipt for your records. In most cases you will also be provided with a Vehicle Condition Summary and a Lease-end Statement; however, if a 3rd party pre-inspection was not performed on your vehicle or if the condition of your vehicle has changed, another 3rd party inspection may be needed to determine your final excess wear and tear charges.
5. More Information
In the event you have not received the Lease-end Statement at the time of return, you’ll receive a lease-end statement in the mail. This statement will detail any charges or fees for damages, kilometer overages or excess wear and tear. Remember that completing your pre-inspection will help identify any chargeable issues early, so you can take any necessary steps to avoid them.
Put yourself behind the wheel of a new Mercedes-Benz all over again. With a fresh lineup of vehicles and discounts that honour your loyalty, getting into a new Mercedes couldn’t be easier. Check out the new line or book a test drive today.
Vehicle Condition Guidelines
Keep these in mind throughout your lease.
Wear and tear is a normal part of driving. We make it easy to understand what’s acceptable and what’s not – so there are no surprises when your lease is over.
Excess Wear and Tear
It’s important for you to keep in mind that you’re responsible for any wear and tear that exceeds the basics. We created the Vehicle Condition Guidelines to help you figure out the condition of your vehicle, including the interior, exterior and mechanics, so you know exactly where you stand.
Safety and Vehicle Integrity
Beyond just wear and tear, you must also return the vehicle in safe working order. Items that might compromise the safe operation of the vehicle include broken or cracked windshields, misaligned or unbalanced tires, inoperable headlights, taillights, or brake lights, etc.
The terms of your lease provide a maximum number of kilometers you’re allowed to drive during the time you have your Mercedes-Benz. Keep in mind that should you exceed the allowed kilometers, there will be a charge when you return your vehicle. To learn more about these charges, please refer to your lease agreement.
Determining Your Vehicle’s Condition
We’ve made it simple for you to evaluate your Mercedes-Benz with specific, easy-to-understand guidelines. Keep these in mind throughout the duration of your lease so you know your responsibilities and can make sure you’re free of excess wear and tear.
If you ever have any questions about vehicle condition guidelines, the vehicle return process or even specific wear and tear issues, please give us a call – we’re here to help you throughout your lease. Call the Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Lease Maturity Department at 1-866-202-6969 or your dealer.
Inspecting Your Vehicle
The First Class Condition Card Test
Please note, the Lease Return Guide also references a First Class Condition Card which can be used to conduct your own vehicle condition review prior to your pre-inspection. The approximate dimensions of the card are 8.5 cm/3.375 inches (width) x 5.5 cm/2.125 inches (height).
We’ve made it easy to figure out what’s considered normal wear and tear. The First Class Condition Card Test takes the surprise out of returning your Mercedes-Benz when your lease is over.
How does it work? It’s simple: any surface damage that doesn’t exceed the size of the First Class Condition Card passes the test. Please see the Lease Return Guide for more details.
Please keep in mind this self-assessment is not a replacement of the pre-inspection.
